andrews family: chapel hill family photographer

I love doing family/couple/baby shoots! It is always exciting to have a bunch of different ages and sub-groupings to capture!

all of these family members came to visit to see sarah (the blonde in the lower right corner) graduate from unc pharmacy school--and they wanted to make sure to get some family pictures, too! it was fun to meet the babies and the siblings and grandparents too!

Photobucket

and chapel hill was, as always, a gorgeous place to shoot! thanks again, andrews family!

one of those moments...

Something little happened to me last week that really made me smile, and I want to share it with you all...

I was having some last-minute images printed at a local camera shop. I was meeting potential clients the next day and wanted to update my portfolio before I met them. [By the way, they booked their 2010 wedding! Allie and Allan I am really looking forward to working with you!]

So, I submitted my images online and left to pick up my lunch, and after I got my food I had a message from the manager of the store...

"Hi Carrie," he said "I'm the manager at Such-and-Such Camera, and I'm calling in regards to the order you placed online. We are not going to be able to print those images you submitted online--they are professional photographs and we cannot print them without a copyright release..."

It just made me smile that even the well-trained eye of the professional printer recognized the quality of my work in a split second. :)

If you're thinking "well, duh!" then think of it this way--it was the photography equivalent of a stranger telling my how cute my haircut is, or how they really love my outfit. Except even better, because it's like I cut my hair or sewed the clothes myself!

and, because all posts on a photography blog should have pictures...here's a picture of a Durham Farmer's Market zinnia that I took in August. I LOVE fresh flowers, and I love taking pictures of them too!

beverly + bobby = married. the preview

what a fabulous evening wedding! The Russell-Alwine wedding was just fantastic! These are a just a handful of the images I've edited so far--and there are many, many more to come!

the ceremony was at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Chapel Hill, and the reception was at the AMAZING Carolina Inn. Such a gorgeous venue.

here are a few quick teasers from the big day. more soon!

the bridesmaids and their shoes...

just married!

champagne toast!

and more feet--these are the groom's kickin' wingtips and check out the bride's tattoo--she has two bees because they are "B" and "B!" adorable, yes?

congratulations Bev and Bobby!!!

beverly's bridal portraits-chapel hill, nc

I have been holding onto these lovely portraits until the big day arrived--and now it's here! I actually timed this post to go up after beverly made her entrance at the wedding!

we had such a good time taking these portraits! her fabulous friend camille came along to help out, and the three of us had a blast!

we began in downtown chapel hill at first presbyterian, where beverly and bobby will be wed.

this one is hands down, no contest my very favorite--beverly said she could see the wheels in my head turning as I climbed up into the tree to capture this! it is also beverly's favorite and her mother's favorite--and a gallery wrap of this very picture will be on display at her wedding!

we also took a little walk over to the carolina inn, the reception location--boy oh boy, are there a lot of places to shoot here! check out the reflection...

thank you, wind!

and this is going to be on dislay at her wedding, too!

and some other assorted yumminess...

courtney and derek: the wedding!

So, last October I took some photos of two lovely people--you can see some of their photos here, and they also have an album in the cream of the crop section on my website. And this weekend I got to attend their fabulous wedding. It was SO much fun and so gorgeous. And I was THRILLED to see that their engagement photos made a cameo on their favors.

SUCH CUTIES! holy moly. These little girls were full of energy and creativity, and their parents were just really cool people. I had so much fun working with them!

They wanted something very nature-oriented and they wanted to have a good time, and I am certain we did just that. Plus, there's just something fantastic about red hair. I love love love it.

I love how people look when they laugh. LOVE.

look at those happy feet (give them a low-down beat, and they begin dancing!)

are they sweet or what?

and goodbye kisses, too precious! and that's their awesome doggie, "h" too. he was a trooper! and the girls pretended to be him. :)

More pictures of this family appear in the "cream of the crop" section of my website. Enjoy!

oldies but goodies-engagment re-mix

so, I was playing around with a new photo tool that I LOVE, Boutwell's Totally Rad Actions, and I had to try them out on an outdoor shoot from exactly six months ago. to the day! you can see the original images here (though none of these new ones are posted there!), but I played with a few, and here's what I came up with...

on UNC's campus

this one is definitely my favorite of hte three--LOVE the pose and the colors. the brick, the door....yummy!

and sitting in front of a church.

fun, fun, fun! they're getting married in just under a month, so as you look at the pretty pictures think good thoughts for them!

shannon's headshots

shannon and I visited downtown chapel hill and unc's campus for this shoot, and she was all about the details--check out her awesome leopard heels!

after our time in downtown chapel hill we visited a local pool hall. she plays pool competitively and wanted to get images from start to finish--putting together the cue, racking the balls, breaking--you name it, we probably photographed it!
